Meet Jenny Hahn

Hi Friend,

I’m Jenny Hahn. My life is my art. I walk the path of artist, author, teacher, sacred space-holder, and guide in creative reclamation. One of my greatest joys in life is to witness others coming home to their truth and finding their innate creative power. I believe that creativity is our divine birthright, and that accessing it means stepping into one’s unique power and purpose.

As a certified mindfulness teacher and co-founder of Creative Nectar Studio, I have led workshops across the country for 15+ years teaching process art as a tool for mindfulness and self-discovery. My own acrylic paintings captures the inward journey through bold expression and a vibrant color palette, and are featured on book covers, calendars, magazines, posters, and now oracle cards. My debut book Creative Flow: Tap and Express Your Juicy Essence is an essential guide for awakening your creativity and connection.

My Story: From Soul Starvation to Authentic Expression

I am a recovering perfectionist.

For most of my life I've suffered from what I call "not good enough" syndrome. My desire to disprove the beliefs of inadequacy and feelings that came with it became a great driving force for making good grades, doing well on jobs, and winning approval of others.

Years of crazy-making taught me that enough is never enough.

My neurosis turned into an eating disorder and I hit rock bottom, eventually finding healing and coming to the realization that striving for an unattainable idea of perfection is not a good strategy for achieving lasting happiness. In fact, what might appear "perfect" on the outside might just be an empty shell longing for something more authentic.

Authentic expression is exactly what I was hungry for when I met my teacher, Sarah Oblinger. She led process painting workshops in the Kansas City area that ignited a fire in me and brought me home. The raw, unbridled creativity that I witnessed from myself and others in those workshops ignited something in my soul that had been smoothed over and forgotten.

Fast-forward almost 20 years and I am leading process painting workshops for groups across the country. The studio has changed hands multiple times throughout the years, and it is my honor to carry the tradition forward in this area today.

Part of my return to wholeness involves embracing my shadow. All the less-than-desirable parts of me that I've disowned in an attempt to fit a particular image. The rage, the shame, the laziness, the "ugly" aspects ~ I'm learning to embrace these parts of my experience like I would a child, rather than judging them and stuffing them down. They all deserve to be seen and heard. They all have something important to share.

My work in overcoming the critical voices in my head and allowing my light to shine now allows me to help others to do the same. I believe we are all meant to shine in our own way, and that our unique flavor of creativity is a gift to the world.
